Softball Begins 2023 Campaign
The ECC Kats Softball program is ready to open the 2023 season Sunday, March 26th against Columbia- Greene Community College. The Kats will be lead by four returning players. 2022 All Region players Julia Kilonski and Alyssa Kilonski as well as Emily Belile and Emily Krause. Julia Kilonski will be a strong offensive threat and provide a rock steady presence behind the plate. Alyssa Kilonski will lock down third base and also provide explosiveness at the plate. Belile provides a strong defensive prowess and will help push the offense while Krause gives a strong presence in the outfield that comes with a big stick. Transfer Samantha Heppel will be the workhorse in the circle. The all region pitcher will give opposing defenses trouble both swinging and slapping.
New comers Emma and Kate Poitras come from the Orchard Park Starz and are welcomed additions that will provide pop in the lineup. Another new comer, Samantha Wing from Victor, NY is expected to be a steady influence in the middle of the diamond and give opposing defenses fits on the bases and at the plate. Maddie Frost, a Mel Ott product, will help the Kats in the outfield and will contribute with her stick. Giselle Rodriguez, Amherst Lightning, and Maddie Mazur, Sandlot Saints, are expected to provide key innings in the outfield. Yeldali Tejada, a Buffalo Public Schools product, will bring a big stick to the Kats arsenal. Crystal Winnie from Clarence will look to provide innings in the circle.
The Kats are led by head coach Craig Leone and assistant coach Chris Albert. Also assisting the Kats will be premier travel showcase coach Charles Righetti who will also serve as director of recruiting.
