Orchard Park, NY- The SUNY Erie Community College football program returned to grid iron on Saturday. It was the school's first football game since October 2019. Erie did field a team for the pandemic shortended spring season.
The Kats struggled from the opening drive against a tough Hocking College team losing 60-14. The team manged just 59 yards of total offense on the day. Freshman quarterback Gianluca Fulciniti was 8-17 with 78 passing yards. The running game was never able to establish any momentum against the Hawks defense and ended at -33 yards on the day.
Defensively, Nicholas Blake and Patrick Burns led the way combining for 12 tackles with Blake having the Katsls one sack.
Erie will travel to Ithaca College for a JV match-up on Sunday, September 12th at 2:00 pm.
