Sonya Krezmien Leads the Kats at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational
SUNY Erie cross country team traveled to Roberts Wesleyan University to face swift competition at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational, including multiple regionally ranked NCAA Dteams.
In the men's race, all five Kats earned personal-best times for 8k. Sam May paced the Kats for the third straight race, finishing in 149th place in 32:10. Chad Kapturowski was the second finisher for Erie in 165th place (35:43). The trio of Aidan Terrill (169th, 39:29), Eugene Bush (170th, 39:47), and Brendan Terrill (171st, 40:58) worked together throughout the race and turned in strong performances. The men placed 15th in the team standings (minimum of 5 finishers), with 20 schools represented in the race.
In the women's 5k, Sonya Krezmien was the top NJCAA competitor, taking 76th place in a season-best time of 21:46. Mads Baird a solid race to secure 128th place in 25:12. Plamedi Mutombo took nearly 3 minutes off her 5k time from the prior week, clocking in at 38:54 for 147th place.
"Today was a very encouraging day," said Head Coach Chris Muldoon. "While every cross country course is different, to have so many personal and season best times shows improvement for the entire team. This might be the largest meet we run in all season, and it was a good experience to test ourselves against such a high level of competition. We will take what we learned today, get back to training, and continue the improvement next race."
The cross country has a weekend off from competition before traveling to the Highlander Invitational hosted by Houghton University on Saturday, October 7.
