McKinnon Named WNYAC Conference Player of the Year

The Erie women's volleyball team has hit its stride at the right time.  The team ended the regular season on an eight game win streak and on Saturday the team won the WNYAC Conference Championship. 

The Kats defeated Monroe (25-28 and 25-14), Niagara County Community College (25-20 and 25-25) and Jamestown Community College (25-27, 25-21 and 15-13) to take the title. 

"We are playing our best volleyball now and we're so excited about heading into regionals with a lot of great wins under our belt the last few weeks," said Coach Craig Starzynski. "Our defense has played great all year and our offense is getting faster by the week.  Courtney and Molly played exceptional today."

Four Kats were awarded for their play in the tournament and throughout the season. Freshman Molly McKinnon was named Player of the Year and named to the All-Conference Team. Also named All-Conference were sophomores Natalie Ruhlmann, Jordyn Morreale and Emily Pijacki.

Erie will play for the Region III Championship on Saturday, October 29th where they are ranked 5th for the tournament.
