Volleyball Battles Jamestown in Five Set Match
Jamestown, NY- Erie volleyball played a strong five set-match against Jamestown Community College on Tuesday but ultimately lost 23-25, 25-21, 16-26, 25-20, . The Kats and Jayhawks battled back and forth all night starting with the first set.
"This was our first five set match of the season and we learned a lot, even in the loss," said Coach Craig Starzynski.
JCC jumped out to a lead in the first set before Erie battled back to tighten it up before Jamestown took it 23-25. The second set was the reverse with Erie taking a sizeable lead before Jamestown tied it up, but Erie would close it out and tie up the match 1-1. The Kats faltered a bit in the third set letting the Jayhawks determine the momentum and take a 2 sets to 1 lead. Erie took the momentum back and would tie the match up 2-2 in the fourth set. The battle continued in a tight fifth set with both teams going back and forth before JCC was able to put the match away.
Aurora Davis continued her strong season with nine kills and nine aces in the match. Sara Domanowski has 30 assists and 22 digs.
Erie is back home on Thursday, hosting Tompkins Cortland Community College at the Burt Flickinger Center at 6:00 pm.
