Women go 1-1 in Weekend Road Trip.
Queensbury, NY- After a two game trip to Albany this weekend Erie Women's Soccer come back with one win and one loss, leaving their overall record at 4-2 heading into next week.
On Saturday, Erie played against a strong Hudson Valley (5-1-0) team and fell 5-0. Despite being in the game for most of the 90min, Erie was unable to find the back of the net to match Hudson Valley's scoring.
"Today was a tough result but I feel like it taught us a lot about where we are and what we need to improve on moving forward. Hudson Valley is good and one of the better teams in our region. It was a great opportunity for us to learn about ourselves as we make our playoff push. The group is really just starting to develop some cohesion and an identity of how we want to play, I'm really excited about what that could look like by the end of the regular season." said Head Coach Kolby Banker of the loss.
On Sunday, the Erie Women's Soccer team played against SUNY Adirondack and responded positively with a 9-0 shutout victory. Jena Schelble continued her goal scoring by netting five and dishing out one assist. Jordan Goeddertz also improved her scoring total by two with her two goals on the day. Annabelle MacIntosh got on the score sheet with one goal and one assist. Aaliyah Morris rounded out the scoring with the first goal of her college career. Goalkeeper Amber Grabp and the rest of the back line earned their 3rd shutout of the fall.
Grapb said of the win over SUNY Adirondack "With hard work and a positive attitude we were able to come together and have a successful outcome."
"Our hard work throughout the season was shown in this game and I'm glad to be apart of this team." said Vanessa Schmidt.
The Kats will travel to Genesee Communuty College on Thursday for a 4:00 pm game.
