Women's Soccer Gets Back in the Win Column with Victory Over Corning Community College
September 7, 2019
Corning, NY- Taking their game on the road for the first time this season, the Kats scored four unanswered goals over Corning Community College to improve their record to 2-1.
"I am really proud of our girls for coming in and taking care of business today. You never know exactly how your team is going to handle traveling away from home and playing an intense game. They responded really well and fought for all 90 minutes. We are imporving every week and that is our goal.. practice by practive, game by game." said Coach Kolby Banker.
After Corning got on the board first, scoring 15 minutes into the game, the Kats offense took over the rest of the way.
Jordan Goeddertz had the first Kats goal after a great combination from forwards Annabelle MacIntosh and Jena Schelble, and finished a cross from Schelble who had 3 assists in the day. MacIntosh had two goals that resulted from great individual effort and pressure. Vanessa Schmidt had a great strike from about 30 yards out that found the back of the net to round out the scoring.
MacIntosh said of the game, "Today marked our first of seven games on the road so it was great to walk away with a win. Our team is growing and improving everyday and I believe today was a testament to that. I'm happy with my individual play and that I was able to get on the scoreboard, however, I still have a lot of work to get done."
"I feel that I've acclimated to the pace of the game fairly quick. Playing different positions has been a blast in that I can get forward in the attack but still help back and control the field as last man back. Overall it's been an awesome experience." Goeddertz added.
The Kats stay on the road next weekend when they travel to Dryden, NY to take on Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday at 1:00 pm
