Their third place finish was just 15 pins from second place.
"The ladies kicked off their final 5 game set of baker with a season high 250 game and gave chase to the 2nd place team till the final frame. This was their best all around team effort of the season and it couldn't come at a better time as we head towards our two championship events."
One the men's varsity side the Kats had four bowlers in the top 15 with Alex Sanford and Zachary Spengler finishing in the top ten bowling 827 points while Jacbor Racsumberger and Marc D'Amico finished 11th and 12th respectively. Nicholas Biondolillo had the high game for Erie with a 253. Men's Jv had 1,117 for their first block of baker, which included a 279 game, which was high for the entire tournament.
Zajac continued his praise saying, "Both Men's teams had a great day on the lanes. Our JV team "won" their division and individually they all bowled well. Men's Varsity broke off their runner-up streak today with being crowned the tournament champions. It came down to the final shot of the event, eight count was a tie and anything less was a second place finish. Our team Captain Lane Marlatt stepped up and delivered the STRIKE of the regular season, with his teammates quick on to the approach to celebrate. Equally this was the men's best all around team effort and our two championship events.
The teams will spend the week focusing int he NJCAA Region III Championships on Saturday. They will travel to Rome, NY to compete for the region title.
