Men's Bowling Takes Second at AHBA #3
The Erie Community College men's bowling team made an impressive showing at the American Heartland Bowling Association's third event of the season. The varsity team finished second in the team standings and had four bowlers finish in the top 10 and three named to the All Tournament team. Sophomore Lane Marlatt led the Kats, finishing second over all. Freshmen Charles "CJ" Buttery, Zachary Spengler and Jacob Racsumberger finished fifth, seventh and tenth respectively. Marlatt, Buttery and Spengler were the All Tournament selections.
The JV team finshed third, just three pins behind the second place team with sophomore Marc D'Amico finishing fifth overall.
"While the win slipped away from the us at the very end, this event had a lot of positives throughout the day for the guys," said Head Coach Dave Zzjac. "Most importantly, this showed us and the other schools at these events (mostly four year programs) that we have the talent to make a run/win these events. Secondly, this was the most players in our tenure that have made the All Tournament team in a regular season event, Marlatt, Buttery, Spengler and D'Amico (JV), with several others just outside of the top eight honors. Now we have three weeks to prep for our next two events in Canandaigua (NY)."
On the ladies side, the Kats finished seventh. The team had two bowlers in the top 20 with sophomores Megan Walker finishing 14th and Maura Noonan finishing 18th. Assistant Coach Matt Limardi said of the ladies, "Each lady showed positives throughout the day that give us a good outlook for this season."
The teams will travel to Canandaigua, NY for their next matches, competing in the Tiger Cup and Brick City Classic on November 23rd and 24th.
