Bowling Competes in Two Events Prior to the Winter Break
The Erie Men's and Women's bowling teams traveled to Pennsylvania before the winter break to compete in the Lehigh Valley Classic and Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic bowling tournaments. Up first for the men was the Keystone Quaker where they finished 22nd out of 29 teams. The Ladies finishes 17 out of 19 teams at the Lehigh Valley Classic.
"As they should be and are expected from both of the first events, the conditions were tough. Each team had their highs and lows, but not a single player ever gave up in testing their limits. Over the next 2 days the teams will switch houses/events and will grind to climb up the rankings," said Coach David Zajac said.
The men were led by Declan Stiles with 909 pins (181.8 avg.) while Jessica Fullone led the ladies with 767 pins bowled (153.5 avg.).
The teams then swapped events for the next two days with the men jumping up two spots to finish 20th at the Lehigh Valley Classic and the ladies finishing 16th at the Roto Grip event. Megan Walker was the leader for the ladies with 825 pins bowled (165 avg.) and Peyton Anderson led the men with 973 pins bowled (194.6).
Zajac said after the second events, "We expected these events conditions to be tough and they lived up to their reputations. Even though they were very challenging, these conditions are what help our players grow their abilities on the lanes the most. We will take some time off and then get ready for the final stretch of our season to kick start on January 13th in Pittsburgh."
