Men's and Women's Bowling Begin 2022-23 Season
After being delayed due to a winter snow storm, both the Erie men's and women's bowling teams kicked off their 2022-23 seasons this week. The men competed at the Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Collegiate Classic and the ladies bowled the Lehigh Valley Classic, both in Allentown, PA.
The varsity mens finished in 16th out of 31 teams. Cameron Stark was the high average for the team, averaging 190.6 over the five team games. Anthony Shaver had the high game for the varsity squad with 247.
For the JV team, Peyton Anderson claimed the high single game (212) and the high average for five games of 182.8.
The ladies finished in 10th place with sophomore Abby Schroeder leading the way, averaging 174.2 while freshman Katelyn Kittleson was close behind averaging 172.2 over the five games. Freshman Nadine Carr claimed the ladies high game with 215.
"With such a large freshman class for both men's and women's teams, we were prepared for this to be a challenging start to our tournament schedule," said Coach David Zajac. "Each player had their ups and downs, but they are eager to take on our next tournament over the next two days."
The teams will now switch tournaments beginning on Wednesday and conclude the road trip on Thursday.
