Lady Kats Sweep Genesee at Home
The Erie Lady Kats took two home games from Genesee Tuesday afternoon at the North Pole. The sweep improves the Kats region record to 5-3.
In game one it would take extra innings to turn the Cougars away. In the bottom of the 8th, Olivia Ball would single in Kira Kilonsky with the walk off run. In all, the Kats would pound out 10 hits led by Emma Poitras's three hits. Carly Fraser would add two hits. Other Kats adding hits were Kira Kilonsky, Anna Cervino, Cheyenne Barnard, Bella Raimondi and Ball. Grace Szpylman got the win throwing all eight innings allowing only five earned runs while striking out 11.
In game two the Kats erupted in the top of the first plating ten runs. The lead would hold up in an 18-12 victory against Genesee who fought back to make it a game. In all the Kats exploded for 20 hits. Kilonsky led the way with four hits and 3 RBI's. Fraser would add three more hits to her all ready big day. Cervino, Ball, Barnard, Raimondi, Poitras and Mikayla Gallivan all had multi hits with two apiece while Bri Farnsworth chipped in with a hit and two runs Scored.
Barnard started in the circle and would register the win. For the second time in this short season, Grace Szpylman would register a game two save after getting a game one win.
Up next the Kats hit the road Thursday at Mohawk Valley.
