Kats Go on the Road to Sweep Finger Lakes Behind Dominant Pitching

The SUNY Erie Lady Kats went on the road Saturday and picked up two wins behind stellar pitching. In game one Grace Szpylman was dominate allowing only one earned run on five hits while striking out 12 in a 7-3 victory against Finger Lakes Community College.
Carley Fraser, Cheyenne Barnard and Emma Poitras each had three hits to ignite the Kats with Poitras adding two RBI's. The key moment in the contest came in the fifth when Brianna Farnsworth smoked a two out single to right turning a
3-0 game into a 3-2 game. From there the Kats would plate 5 more runs in the final two frames led by a two out double by Emma Poitras in the 6th after Fraser and Barnard set the table with singles. In the 7th Haley Wackhowski led off with a bunt single followed by a Kilonsky walk and hits by Olivia Ball and Carley Fraser to widen the gap. Szpylman would shut the door in the 7th to record her first region victory.
In game two Cheyenne Barnard threw six strong innings keeping the Lakers off balance while striking out six batters to record her second win of the year in a 6-3 Kats win. Grace Szpylman would slam the door shut in the 7th adding a save to her previous days win.
Kira Kilonsky would lead the offense in game two registering two hits including a double. Olivia Ball, Emma Poitras and Mikayla Gallivan would also add doubles. Carley Fraser, Bella Raimondi, Haley Wackhowski and Anna Cervino would all add key hits in the contest with Cervino erasing two base runners from behind the plate in key situations.
