The ECC Lady Kats softball team has had to endure a few tough late inning losses lately but on Sunday they were able to finish against the number 4 ranked team in Region III.
Game one was a nail biter until the sixth inning when Jefferson pulled away late to seal the 11-3 win. The Kats hung around until the 6th when Jefferson plated seven in the frame.
Cheyenne Barnard was solid for five innings holding the potent Cannons to only four runs through five innings allowing only four hits. Bella Raimondi and Olivia Ball would get the Kats only two hits while Anna Cervino would reach base three times displaying amazing discipline.
In game two, the Kats would diffuse the Cannons sending them home in five innings in an 11-2 route. The Kats exploded in the third for seven runs and pounded out nine hits in the game, led by Natalie Witt who went three for three with three RBI's including a two run homer. Samantha Wing and Anna Cervino would each add two hits and two RBI's. Cheyenne Barnard would contribute a hit and two RBI's while Bella Raimondi would add a hit and an RBI of her own.
In the Circle for the Kats Emma Rozborski would again dominate shutting down the Cannons only allowing two runs in the contest. At one point in the game Rozborski would retire 11 of the 12 batters she faced behind a Kats Defense that was Stellar.
Up next for the Kats, the nationally ranked number four team in the nation visits the North Campus when Corning comes to town.
