Three Kats Finish Season in Top 20 for AAU Hockey
Erie Community College hockey had three standout players making waves in the AAU DII collegiate hockey scene. Freshman forwards MacAllister Ward, Kevin Reiman, and Christian Leone were recognized for their exceptional performances, each earning a spot among the top 20 scorers in the nation.
Freshman MacAllister Ward had a breakout season, finishing 5th in the AAU DII scoring rankings. Over the course of 22 games, Ward registered an impressive 31 goals and 25 assists, amassing a total of 56 points. Despite playing four fewer games than the top scorer, Ward's performance put him just 10 points behind the leader, showcasing his ability to make an impact on the ice.
Kevin Reiman
Teammate Kevin Reiman also earned a top 10 spot, finishing 9th overall in scoring with 47 points. Reiman's offensive contributions included 24 goals and 23 assists. His consistency and ability to score in key moments helped drive Erie's success throughout the season, solidifying his place among the best in the league.
Christian Leone rounded out the Kats impressive trio, finishing the season in 19th place with 39 points. Scoring 20 goals and adding 19 assists, Leone proved to be a crucial piece of the team's offense, contributing both as a goal-scorer and a playmaker.
AAU College Hockey: A National Platform for Excellence
AAU College Hockey, established through a collaboration between the Collegiate Hockey Federation (CHF) and the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), provides collegiate hockey players with the opportunity to compete at a high level while continuing their education. The organization governs nearly 140 collegiate hockey programs across the country, and it operates within four divisions: College Hockey South (CHS), the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the Upper New York Collegiate Hockey League (UNYCHL), and the Empire Conference.
Erie Community College competes as a member of the UNYCHL, which includes teams from throughout the Northeastern United States. Despite the challenges of a competitive league, the Erie hockey team finished their season with a solid record of 13-10, a testament to the hard work and dedication of players like Ward, Reiman, and Leone.
