The Erie Community College hockey team has been playing it's best hockey of the season at just the right time. The Kats won two games over the weekend to secure second place in their division and a home playoff game.
On Saturday, Erie defeated Mercyhurst 10-2. Joseph Shea had a goal and three assists while James Kruczkowski had two goals to lead the team.
Sunday the Kats hosted Buffalo State University in a game that would decide which team would host the opening round of the playoffs. The Kats skated to a 5-3 victory over the Bengals. Connor Smith had two goals while Eric Duma had two assists in the victory.
Erie will now host the Bengals in the first round of the Upstate New york Collegiate Hockey League DII playoffs on Saturday, February 17th at 2:20 pm at Cheektowaga Ice Rink.
