Men's Bowling Wins Regionals
For the third year in a row the Erie Community College men's bowling team are NJCAA Region III champions! The team traveled to Rome, NY over the weekend to compete and took the title by bowling 9904 pins.
Freshman Lane Marlatt finished first in men's singles and the Kats had three total bowlers in the top ten. Sophomores Declan Stiles and Parker Esch finished sixth and eighth respectively.
"Achieving the Regional Championship "Three-Peat" was our goal and every single player contributed throughout the event to make it happen. We have two weeks to get them fully prepared for the NJCAA Championships, we're confident they will be ready to contend," said Head Coach Dave Zajac.
On the women's side, the team finished in third place with 7073 pins. Leading the way for the Kats was freshman Maura Noonan who finished second in singles and second in the All Events category. Haley Benkelman also finished in the top five and was named to the All Region team.
Zajac said of the women, "The ladies had a strong showing today. They supported one another through the entire event and we could not be more proud of all of them. All of their execution was some of the best we have seen all year and we are optimistic for it to continue through NJCAAs."
The teams will travel to Michigan to compete in the NJCAA National Championships on February 29th.
