Bowling Begins Season in
The Erie Community College Men's and Women's Bowling teams competed over the weekend at the first two American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) Tournaments of the year. The teams traveled to Canton, MI for the two matches. On Saturday the men finished in 9th place.
The top Erie bowler was Declan Stiles who finished 5th with a 215 average. Anthony Shaver also had a top 20 finish with a 206.4 average. The ladies finished in 15th place and was led by Haley Benkelman.
At Sunday's event, the men finished in 12th place. Stile again led the Kats with a 221 average and a top 20 finish. The ladies were led by Megan Walker who finished with an average of 164.25.
"Being new members to the American Heartland Bowling Association this season, this weekend was a learning experience for coaches and players alike," said Coach David Zajac. "We were able to see the caliber of teams we would be competing against for nearly half of our season's events and we were able to take notes of what each individual player needs to work on in order to excel as the season progresses. We're back in action this Saturday, so we will make some minor changes at practice this week then put them to the test in competition."
The Kats will head to Columbus, OH to take part in the AHBA#3.
