Kats Drop Solo Contest to Monroe
Erie Community College men's basketball lost to visiting Monroe Community College on Saturday 80-75. It was a tight contest from the beginning with the Tribunes up by just one point, 32-31 at the half.
The teams exchanged leads in the first half with Erie jumping out by as many as eight points before Monroe battled back to take the slight advantage. The second half would start the same way the first ended with Erie jumping out to take the lead and Monroe answering right back. The teams would be tied at 74 with a minute to go. Monore would go 4-4 in free throws in that last minute while Erie went 1-2 giving the Tribunes the win.
The Kats had four players in double digits with Eddie Beverly leadin the way 18 points, five steals and four assists. David Stroud hit a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Taysen Slating had 13 points and six rebounds and Julienn Clements added 11 points.
Erie will finish out the regular season with three home games this week. On Tuesday the Kats host Finger Lakes Community College, Bryant and Stratton (Buffalo) visits the Flickinger Center Wednesday and SUNY Niagara visits on Saturday.
