Men's Basketball Defeats Cayuga CC
Erie Community College men's basketball got back into the win column over the weekend with a win over Cayuga Community College 76-51.
The Kat's strong defensive play kept Cayuga from getting their offense going in the first half and took a 36-23 lead into the break. Erie would lead by as much as 20 in the second half before the Spartans attempted a rally and cut the Kats' lead to 10. But Erie pulled away for good in the final 10 minutes for the win.
David Stroud and Olivier Ngarukiyintwari both put up double doubles in the win. Ngarukiyintwari recorded 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead Erie while Stroud had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Taesyn Slating was also in double digits in points with 12.
On the women's side, Lillian Patterson also had a double double, but it wasn't enough to lead the Kats to a win as Erie lost 72-49. Patterson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and added three assists. Skye Lee also put up 10 points and added five rebounds of her own while Gianna Krupp had nine points and eight rebounds.
