Erie basketball played host to cross town rival Niagara County Community College at the Burt Flickinger Center on Wednesday. Neither Kats team was able to generate much offense pressure against the Timber Wolves.
The ladies game opened the double header with Niagara building a double digits lead by the end of the first quarter enroute to a 88-40 victory. Leading the Kats in scoring were Mia Special and Briana Millender who each put up 10 points. Millender also led with seven rebounds.
The tough night continued for the Kats when the men took the court. Niagara jumped out to a quick 17-3 lead and cruised to a 74-62 victory. The Kats did pull within ten points to make it 51-41 midway through the second half but Niagara turned the defense back up to close out the game. Erie did have three players in double digits with Nathan Severson and Michael Duviella scoring 12 each and Nicholas O'Neil adding 11 of his own.
Both teams will look to bounce back on the road this weekend. They take on Westchester Community College on Saturday and finish out the semester at Rockland Community College on Sunday.
