Buffalo, NY- The Erie Community College men's basketball team celebrated their four departing sophomores before the final regular season game of the year. Despite ending the first half up by 10, Erie could not sustain the momentum in the second half and lost to Monroe 89-79.
Sophomore William Tavares di Brito put up a double-double, grabbing 17 total rebounds and netting 10 points. Sophomore Joshua Denis led the team in points with 25 while going a perfect 12-12 at the free throw line.
Two other Kats were in double digits on the night. Freshman Nathan Severson scored 21 while freshman Justin Morety added 16.
Up next for Erie is the Region III Division II Men's Basketball Tournament at Niagara Community College. Erie will take on Monroe again on Saturday with the winner advancing to Sunday's final.
