Buffalo, NY -- The Kats high powered offense lifted the Kats to a NJCAA Region 3 Division 2 Championship over Niagara County Community College on Sunday. The Kats found themselves in the championship game after defeating Genesee Community College 103-79.
In the semi-finals, the Kats were lead by Tavien Kemp with 24 points while Kasey Walker-Gregg added 22 points. Michael Motley would add 17 points and six rebounds for the Kats.
In the championship game, the Kats offense was in full force while their defense shut down a tough Thunderwolves team when they bested Niagara County Community College 100-73.
Ahamadou Fofana would lead the Kats with 19 points, followed closely by Walker-Gregg with 16. Michael Motley would add 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Michael Motley, Ahamadou Fofana and Tavien Kemp were all named to All Tournament team while Kasey Walker-Gregg was the MVP of the tournament.
The Kats advance to the District II Championship tournament and will host as the number one seed on Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th. The Kats will play County College of Morris at 1PM while Niagara County Community College will play Sullivan Community College at 3PM at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.
