Football Begins Season with Loss to East Coast Prep
The Erie Community College football team opened the 2023 season with an impressive start on the road Saturday but it wasn't enough as the Kats lost to East Coast Prep 34-20.
Erie scored the only points in the first quarter when Trent Johnson hit Jaylin Weathers with a 12 yard pass to open the scoring. East Coast Prep would block an Erie field goal attempt in the second quarter to tie the game at six apiece. Both teams would then trade touchdowns to give Erie a 20-12 lead at the half. Erie was unable to find the endzone the rest of the game.
Leading the offense was freshman quarterback Eric Wilson who threw for 91 yards and ran for a score. Freshman Damien Littleton led the attack on the ground, rushing for 74 yards and touchdown.
Erie will look to regroup for their home opener on Saturday, September 9th. The Kats take on Thaddeus Stevens Tech at 3:00 pm. Erie will play its home games at Williamsville South High School this season.
