Kats baseball played host to Fingerlakes Community College for a pair of games on a brisk Tuesday afternoon at North Campus.
Both teams were strong on the mound in the opening game but Finger Lakes was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory.
Austin Deitz stepped on the bump first for Erie. The pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Eric Calder went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Kats in hits. Erie turned two double plays in the game.
John Callahan collected three hits in four at bats in the second game but it wasn't enough as Erie lost 10-6 Callahan doubled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning.
Ethan Goodband opened the game for the Kats. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and eight runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two.
Deitz, Callahan, and Calder each drove in one run for Erie. The Kats had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Jason Brostko and EJ Williams led the team with two bases on balls each.
