Erie baseball won big over Onondaga on Sunday, outscoring the Lazers 23-10 between the double header games.
The Kats put up 15 runs in the first game to win 15-3. Garrett Wilson opened the scoring with a solo run to center filed in the top of the second inning. Isaac Duva would double score two more to Erie going. The Kats would go on to amass 11 hits in the game. Wilson, Nathan Kinder and Ronan Glassford each collected two hits. Wilson, Vincent Grazioplene and Duva each drove in three runs. Adam Staniszewski earned the win for Erie, going six innings while surrendering six hits and three runs. He struck out six and walked two.
Onondaga would make the second game interesting, nearly erasing a seven run deficit but Erie held on for the 8-7 win. The Kats got out to a sevin run lead in the fifth inning before the Lazers would close the gap to one in the bottom of the seventh.
Grayson Giddings collected three this in four at bats including a home run, a single and a double and also stole two bases. Glassford collected two more hits for Erie. On the mound to start was Mike Birkhimer to earn the win. The pitcher gave up four hits and four runs over four and one-third innings. Tyler Noel appeared in relief.
Erie will welcome Broome to North Campus for a pair of games on Thursday.
