The Kats baseball team traveled to Broome Community College for a pair of games on Saturday, taking both games from the Hornets.
Both teams were strong on the mound in game one but Erie held on for the 3-1 victory. Aiden McDonald started the game for the Kats and recorded 12 outs while earning the win. The starter allowed four hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Ronan Glassford led Erie with two hits in four at bats from the lead-off position.
Grayson Giddings drove in four runs on two hits to lead Erie to a 10-5 win in the second game. Giddings doubled in the second inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the third to score one. Erie had nine hits in the games. In addition to Giddings, Jacob Jones also had two hits.
Ladislaus Landwehr pitched three and two thirds innings in relief for the Kats. He gave up one hit and zero runs while striking out four and walking none. Aaron Knuutila was the starter, giving up five hits and five runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
The two wins improved Erie's record to 25-10.
