Erie Community College baseball put up nine runs in the fourth inning on its way to a 10-2 victory over Tompkins Cortland Community College in game of their double header on Tuesday. Andrew Nantau, Colby Wilson, Tyler Kerl, Ladislaus Landwehr, and Grayson Giddings each drove in runs during the inning.
Sam Calcaterra was the winning pitcher for the Kats. The hurler went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out four and walking zero. Ryan Moran threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Moran recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Erie CC Kats Varsity.
The Kats totaled nine hits. Christian Pagano, Nantau, and Kerl all managed multiple hits. Kerl, Nantau, and Pagano each collected two hits to lead Erie.
In the second game, the Kats stole the lead late and defeated Tompkins 14-3. Erie was down 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Giddings grounded out, scoring two runs.
The Kats secured the victory thanks to a big fifth inning. Erie tallied nine runs in the fifth inning. Batters contributing to the big inning included Nathan Kinder, Jake Tsymbal, Giddings, Nantau, Landwehr all knocking in runs in the inning.
Jackson Smith was the winning pitcher allowing zero hits and zero runs over one inning, walking zero. Tyler Noel threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Aaron Cabrera started the game for Erie. The ace surrendered three runs on six hits over three innings, striking out three.
The Kats finish the regualr season with a record of 31-18 and are riding a 12 game win streak as they head into the playoffs.
