Erie Community College baseball traveled to Monore Community College on Thursday and earned two victories.
The Kats sailed to an easy 14-1 win in game one. Erie got things started in the first inning when Tyler Kerl doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The Kats would break things open with a five inning third and then put the game away when they tallied six runs in the sixth inning. Erie racked up 13 hits on the day. Kerl, Colby Wilson, and Van Dusen all managed multiple hall managed multiple hits. Kerl led with three hits in three at bats. Ryan Moran led the Erie to victory on the mound. The fireballer went three innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one. Ryan Lynch threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. The Kats was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Andrew Nantau had the most chances in the field with five.
Monroe got on the board first in game two but Erie responded in the top of the second to get the 10-3 win. Erie put up four runs in the second inning when Ladislaus Landwehr was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Pagano drew a walk, scoring one run, Nantau drew a walk, scoring one run, and Whitehead singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Tyson Kovats got the win for Erie. Kovats allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, walking one. Nolan Evans threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Brendon Hering started the game for Erie. The bulldog lasted two innings, allowing one hit and three runs
Erie racked up ten hits. Christian Cabrera and Nantau each racked up multiple hit. Cabrera led Erie with three hits in four at bats.
Saturday, Erie will face crosstown rival Niagara Community College in the NJCAA Game of the Week. The 1:00 pm match-up will be broadcast on ESPN+ and will be played at Niagara Falls High School.
