For the second day in a row, Erie Community College baseball won both games of their double header. Today it was a pair of games with Corning Community College with Kats taking game one 21-8 and game two game two 10-7.
After Corning scored one in the top of the first inning, Erie responded with two of their own in the bottom of the inning. But it was an 11 run fourth inning that propelled Erie to the win. The offensive onslaught was led by Harold Torres, Christain Pagano, Jake Tsymbal, Nathan Kinder, Jacob Jones, and Christian Cabrera, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Spencer Harford led the the team to victory on the pitcher's mound. Harford surrendered three runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out eight. Jackson Smith threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
In game two it was Corning that jumped out to an early lead with a six run second inning. Erie clawed their way back to within one by the before putting up five runs in the sixth inning to take the lead. Nathan Kinder lead the team with three hits in three at bats.
Ethan Stevens was the winning pitcher for the Kats after Sam Calcaterra started the game. Stevens lasted five and a third innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out nine.
The Kats saw the ball well today, racking up 26 hits in the two games.
Erie will travel to Monroe Community College for two games on Thursday.
Saturday, Erie will face crosstown rival Niagara Community College in the NJCAA Game of the Week. The 1:00 pm match-up will be broadcast on ESPN+ and will be played at Niagara Falls High School.
