Tyler Kerl came to ballpark and meant business on Monday, tallying six hits and leading Erie to two wins over Corning Community College.
Kerl tallied five hits in the first game, a 23-4 win and added another in the second. In the early game, Kerl tripled in the first, homered in the second, singled in the second, doubled in the third, and doubled in the fifth.
Ethan Stevens got the start for the Kats. The fireballer lasted three innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out six.
Erie tallied 22 hits overall in the game. Christian Pagano, Kerl, Jake Tsymbal, Harold Torres and Joe Signorelli all collected multiple hits for Erie.
The Kats and Kerl kept things going in game two with a 12-1 win over the Red Barons. The sophomore got things started when he singled in the first inning, scoring two runs. Ryan Lynch led things off on the hill for Erie. Lynch went five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out eight.
The Kats tallied nine hits in the game with Pagano, Andrew Nantau, and Carter Whitehead each having multiple hits. Pagano led Erie with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.
Erie will host Finger Lakes Community College for a pair of games on Thursday.
