Adam Rankie wasted no opportunities at the plate on Saturday, collecting seven hits and driving in five RBIs as Erie swept Adirondack in Region 3 sub-region play.
Rankie collected five of his hits in the 10-2 game one victory. He tripled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the fourth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh.
Connor Desiderio took the win for the Kats. Desiderio lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven.
The Kats collected 12 hits in the first game. Rankie, Christian Cabrera and Isaiah Salas each managed multiple hits. Cabrera had three hits while Salas had two.
Erie secured the sweep with a 18-1 victory behind Rankie's four RBIs and two hits including a three-run dinger in the fourth inning to break the game open.
Sam Calcaterra was the winning pitcher. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out three.
The Kats scattered 11 hits in the game. Harold Torres, Cabrera, Greg Hare, and Rankie all collected multiple hits in the game. Torres went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the hits.
Erie did not commit a single error in the field during either game.
The Kats will now move on to the Region 3 Final Four. Erie is the second ranked team and will face Niagara County Community College on Thursday, May 19th in Little Falls, NY.
