The Erie baseball team swept all four games this weekend against Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3). The Kats win streak now sits at 18 going into the final week of the regular season.
On Saturday, Erie traveled to Dryden, NY to face TC3, winning game one 10-1. Erie jumped ahead early, taking advantage of four walks in the first inning to score four runs. Three more in the second extended the lead and by the time the Panthers got in the board in the fourth, the score was 8-1. Dylan Moorhouse pitched Erie to victory. The bulldog lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out six and walking one.
Game two was more of the same with Erie winning 14-1 in five innings. The Kats got on the board in the first inning when Greg Hare singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Erie put the game away scoring five runs in the fifth inning. The big bats in the inning were led by singles by Andrew Nantau, Tyler Kerl, and Mason Wright, a sacrifice fly by Christian Cabrera, and a double by AJ Karosas. Ethan Stevens got the win for Erie. The hurler allowed one hit and one run over five innings, striking out nine.
Playiing the hosts on Sunday, the Erie bats did not let up on their assault. The Kats put up 24 hits in the 23-3 game one win. Christian Cabrera was in the zone, tallying four hits to lead the Kats. Cabrera singled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth. Spencer Harford was the winning pitcher for the Kats. The fireballer went four innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out six and walking zero. Dylan Wojciechowski threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The final game of the weekend was another Erie victory. The Kats won 11-1, putting up 14 hits Greg Hare, AJ Karosas, and Isaiah Salas all managed multiple hits with Karosas and Hare each collecting three hits to lead the team. Ryan Moran got the victory on the pitcher's mound. Moran surrendered one run on four hits over six innings, striking out three.
The Kats are now 39-10-1 on the season and will host SUNY Broom Community College for a pair of games at North Campus.
