Canandaigua, NY- The Kats offense surged against Finger Lakes Community College when they would sweep a doubleheader, winning 4-1 and 17-4 on Saturday.
In game one, Greg Hare opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning. Erie snagged the lead with the game tied at one and the Kats batting in the top of the seventh. Ethan Stevens singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run to break the tie. Erie would add two more in the win. The Kats racked up eight hits in the game. Connor Desiderio got the win, lasting seven innings, allowing eight hits and one run while striking out six and walking one.
In game two, Adam Rankie knocked in four hits in the victory. Rankie homered in the first, singled in the third, doubled in the fourth, and doubled in the fifth. Erie exploded for 18 hits in the game. Rankie, Christian Cabrera, Salas, AJ Karosas, Andrew Nantau, and Greg Hare all managed multiple hits.
Sam Calcaterra was the winning pitcher. The ace went four innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out one. Tyler Oudette threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Erie will play their first home games of the season on Tuesdasy when they host a double header with Finger Lakes Community College at North Campus. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
