Kats Split Double Header with Itasca CC
The Erie Community College baseball team split their Wednesday double header with Itasca Community College on Wednesday as they continue their spring games in Florida.
In game one, Itasca would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Erie would take a lead of their own in the top of the fourth with a four run inning. The Kats would allow Itasca to tie the game 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth. Erie would then take the lead for good late in the game enroute to a 9-4 victory. Connor Desiderio was the winning pitcher for the Kats. The fireballer went seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking one. Carter Whitehead led Erie at the plate with two hits in three at bats.
The second game would see Erie lose the lead late in a 5-3 defeat to Itasca. Sam Calcaterra took the loss. Calcaterra lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four. Erie socked one home run on the day. Adam Rankie went for the long ball in the first inning. The Kats totaled six hits. Greg Hare and Rankie all had multiple hits for Erie with each Rankie and Hare each collecting two hits.
Erie will get right back to it with two games on Thursday.
