Kats Earn Split with MCC.
SUNY Erie Community College earned a split of their double header with Monroe Community College on Tuesday.
The Kats snagged a late lead and defeated Monroe 8-5 in game one. Erie was down 5-4 in the top of the sixth inning when Colin Fryling doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Erie scattered 13 hits in the game. Fryling, Hare, Cole Cote, and Arlain Sesineach managed multiple hits. Sesin, Cote, Hare, and Fryling each collected two hits to lead the Kats.
Elliot Berger started the game for the Kats. Berger lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out one.
Jake Podlas was the winning pitcher for Erie. The fireballer surrendered one run on five hits over four and a third innings, striking out four and walking zero.
In game two, the Kats struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Monroe CC, giving up 15 runs.
Jackson Painter took the loss for Erie. The hurler went two and a third innings, allowing ten runs on seven hits and striking out two. Isaiah Salas led the limited Kats offense with two hits in three at bats.
Erie takes the field again on Thursday when they host Monroe at north campus for two games at 1:00 and 3:30 pm.
