Erie Baseball Falls in Both Games of Double Header.
SUNY Erie baseball lost both games of its double header at Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday.
Despite out hitting Finger Lakes six to five, Erie lost the opening game 5-1. Freshman Mike Hartman took the loss for the Kats. The pitcher went four and a third innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out three. Freshman AJ Karosas led the Erie offense with two hits in three at bats.
It came down to the last play in game two, but the Kats were on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to the Lakers. The game was tied at five with Finger Lakes batting in the bottom of the seventh when the Lakers Hurtado singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Erie had jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the top of the fifth inning but could not hold the lead as the Lakers got on the board in the bottom half of the inning and then tied in the sixth.
Freshman Connor Desiderio started the game for the Kats. The hurler surrendered zero runs on three hits over four innings, stirking out two and walking zero. Freshman Billy Quinn took the loss for Erie. Quinn lasted one and one-third innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out one and walking zero.
Freshman Colin Fryling led Erie at the plate with twho hits in four at bats.
The Kats take on Genesee Community College for two games at home on Saturday, April 17th. Game times are 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
