Kats Split With Monroe College
SUNY Erie baseball split their double header with a tough Monroe College on Thursday.
Despite out-hitting Monroe 10-6, Erie fell behind early in the first game and could not come back in the 5-3 loss. Greg Hare and Isaiah Salas had two hits for the Kats with Salas taking one deep in the third inning. Freshman Billy Quinn was on them mound for the Kats. The pitcher lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four. Mike Hartman threw three and a third innings out of the bullpen.
Erie would take the second game from the NJCAA D1 Mustangs when they broke a 3-3 tie with two runs scored on a error. The put the game away with a three run sixth inning. The Kats totaled 11 hits in the game. Mason Wright, AJ Karosas, Colin Fryling, and Greg Hare each had multiple hits for Erie.
Nolan Evans led things off on the mound for the Kats. The fireballer lasted four and a third innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out three.
Erie will be back on the field on Saturday when they host Herkimer College for two games. Game one is at 11:00 and game two is at 1:00 pm.
