Kat Bowling Teams Prepare for December Tournaments
Kats hope to improve from 2nd & 3rd place Big Red finishes in upcoming tournaments
The winter months bring bowling back to the spotlight at Erie Community College with two post-Christmas tournaments fast approaching in Allentown, Pa., Dec. 27 and 29.
The men's and women's teams will compete in the ROTO Trip Keystone Quaker Classic before moving on to the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic.
After tuning up for the season at the Big Red Invitation hosted by Cornell University's Bowling Club in Cortland last month, the Kat teams are ready to compete against top competition again that includes four-year colleges.
Leading the men to a third-place finish at last month's tournament was Dan Streer and Ryan Kress. Streer was the 2016 Greater Buffalo United States Bowling Congress Association's Youth Bowler of the Year and finished sixth overall at Cortland, while Kress made the top dozen.
The women were led by Chelsea Simmeth and Amy Feldman. The pair both finished in the top-five in the Big Red Invitational and helped lead the women to a second place finish.
Erie will once again be hosting the 2017 National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship, March 3-4, at Airport Lanes. During last year's national championship, Erie bowler Dana Voytovich became the first Erie bowler since Ryan Ciminelli to win both the singles and all-events titles.
