Fulton County, NY -- The Kats took two of three matches today in pod play hosted at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Erie would defeat Herkimer Community College (16-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-14) and Mohawk Valley Community College (25-13, 25-18, 25-11) before falling to Fulton- Montgomery (25-23, 25-22, 25-23).
The Kats standouts today were Natalie Ruhlmann with 47 digs while Molly McKinnon had 40 kills and Emily Pijacki ended the day with 79 assists.
"Two and one in oru first POD of the season is a positive for us, especially because many of our starters have not played in this kind of format," said coach Craig Starzynski. Molly and Natalie were terrific in serve receive today and that's the backbone of our offense. Moving Jordyn (Morreale) from setter to outside hitter and bringing Emily to set is going to transform offense going forward," he added.
Erie will be back on the court Thursday when they head to Sanborn to take on Niagara County Community College.
