Kats Volleyball Season Ends at Regionals
The Kats season ended in the finals of the Region III Championships on Sunday. Erie lost to Broome Community College 25-18, 25, 23 and 25-20 in the North B Championship Game.
On Saturday, Erie went 2-1 in pool play defeating both Herkimer Community College and Monroe Community College and lost to Fulton-Montgomery community College to advance to Sunday.
During the first match on the day Saturday, the Kats took sets one and three from Herkimer, 25-19 and 25-17 respectively and dropped the middle set 25-27. In match two, the Kats allowed Monroe to capture the first set 28-26 before settling down and winning the final two with scores of 25-22 for both. In the final match of the day Erie lost 2-1 to Fulton- Montgomery with set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-12.
Sophomore Aurora Davis led the Kats offense all weekend. She completed the tournament with 46 kills and a .498 hitting percentage. In addition to being named the Region III Player of the Year prior to the tournament, she was named to the All-tournament team along with teammate Hannah Pyc. The freshman compiled 39 digs and 21 kills and played strong all tournament.
The team had a slow start to the season before picking up their play and going on a ten match win streak and ending the season with a 16-9 record.
