Women's Soccer Holds On Over Mohawk Valley, 4-2, Advance to Region III B Semi Finals
The Kats will play the winner of Jamestown and Genesee in the finals
Orchard Park, NY -- The Kats took the field today against Mohawk Valley Community College in the semifinals of the Region III District B tournament and came out with a victory, 4-2.
The Kats started out with early scoring like they have all season when Sam Carey would score on a pass from Megan Brodziak in the 18th minute. Six minutes later, Annaliese Ziemann would add another goal, burying a pass from Rachel Fiore in the back of the net.
A penalty kick goal from Rachel Fiore in the 26th minutes would put the Kats up 3-0, a lead they would take into the half.
Mohawk Valley would come out hot in the second half, pressing on offense to put pressure on the Kats, scoring twice in under two minutes around the 60 minute mark to make it a one goal game.
The Kats would withstand a heavy attack from Mohawk Valley, the back end of the Kats formation bending but not breaking. The Kats would find some breathing room late when Rachel Fiore would bury a shot from outside the box with under five minutes to play.
The Kats defense and goalkeeping would hold for the final five minutes to give the Kats a 4-2 lead.
The Kats will be back in action in the finals against the winner of Jamestown Community College and Genesee Community College on Sunday at Genesee Community College.
