Kats Split Double Header with Cayuga
Auburn, NY- Erie Community College baseball continued the trend of double header splits with a pair of games against Cayuga Community College.
The Kats defeated Cayuga 5-2 in the opening game at Falcon Park on Tuesday. Cayuga got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning but Erie tied it in the second and took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning when Adam Rankie tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Isaiah Salas singled on the first pitch of the his at bat.
Tyler Oudette earned the win. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out three.
Erie totaled nine hits in the game. Salas, Greg Hare, Harold Torres, and Rankie all collected multiple hits. Rankie, Torres, Hare, and Salas managed two hits each to lead the team. Erie didn't commit a single error in the field. Torres had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
Game two was a different story as the Kats fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 12-3 loss to the Spartans. Ethan Stevens took the loss lasting only one inning, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out three. The Kats managed only three hits in the game.
Erie is back on the road on Saturday, March 26th with a double header at Finger Lakes Community College.
